I gained my initial experience as an arts coordinator at the Museum of the Home (then the Geffrye Museum) in London. For 6 years there, I devised, coordinated, led & supported workshops & projects with young people & intergenerational groups. This was a new programme and, as such, I needed to make links with local people & organisations; to build ongoing & long-lasting relationships with the local community. I loved working with SEND learners, young people at risk of exclusion, Refugees & Asylum Seekers & Homeless People - amongst others. I also recruited for & set up a Young Volunteers Programme. Initially funded for two years - with the project’s success - we were able to continue the work for four further years; with the legacy of a committed group of young people working alongside the museum - becoming a highly valued part of museum plans & events & inputting into museum policy.

I was really proud of the ambitious & creative, multi-disciplinary & intergenerational projects I coordinated. I relished the opportunity to employ & work with other practitioners: artists, musicians, fashion designers, milliners, writers, product designers, set builders…I loved connecting with young & older people and the latter led to my subsequent 6-year long outreach project work for the museum - with vulnerable & isolated people in the community, especially those living with Alzheimer’s & dementia; & more recently to working with local dementia organisations in Kent, which I’m thoroughly enjoying.

Since then, I have coordinated projects with the London Transport Museum & over the past decade, locally with Outdoor Studios; worked as a coordinator for Rye Studio School & I am currently coordinating - as well as excited to soon be facilitating - for the wonderful creative therapies organisation, Heart Smart Arts.
